That's a nifty knob, Jim. But how do you achieve 2-axis control with it like a mouse or trackball? The web site simply says "does everything a mouse does..."
Wishes like yours are how many product improvements (and bugs) are noted and handled, provided they're Elecraft issues and not in the software running on the computer. Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- I've noticed one inconsistency with my P3 so I guess this is a request for addition to the P3 wishlist. It's a small thing and if it were never changed I'd still be as "happy as a clam at high tide" with my K3/P3 setup. I realize that even mentioning it is like complaining about the shape of the door handle on your Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. I have a Griffin PowerMate knob <http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/powermate> hooked to my K3 using the LP-Bridge interface program. The knob takes up one virtual serial port. The program that allows this to work so well is G4ILO's "K-Tune" <http://www.g4ilo.com/ktune.html> and it works perfectly to allow me to tune the dial of the K3 with the knob flat on the desk or while sitting in my big comfy chair with the knob in my hand. I like to operate in contests using the S & P technique and I'm watch the P3 while listening on my CM-500 headset. The PowerKnob can be set to select assorted fast or slow tuning rates and I watch the P3 to see where to pounce. I noticed that as the knob is turned, the K3 smoothly tracks the frequency, the Logger32 smoothly tracks the frequency, and even the signals move by, left or right, to show what signals are available. The frequency display at the top or the P3, however, does not change. Even when I stop turning the PowerMate, it does not update to the new frequency. I can move the K3's knob slightly and the P3 will update the frequency display. It would be nice if the frequency display on the P3 would track the transceiver's actual frequency during the tuning process or at least to update the value when tuning stops. I wondered if all the provisions are there to accomplish this but it just had not been turned on or perhaps the hook was not set in the firmware. If that cannot be done, I'll still be happy but if it could be implemented, I'd be even a slight bit happier. Thanks for any consideration. 73 -- Jim - K5LAD PS - I highly recommend the PowerMate and G4ILO's "K-Tune" program if you'd like to provide some local/remote tuning to your K3. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
