Assuming you meant KPA100 and not KAT100 -- It seems that almost always the issue is failed diodes in the power detection circuit used to measure SWR and drive the tuner - apparently from static discharge from the antenna. In this case, the KPA100 diodes have failed. The KAT2 diodes appear to be fine since it works.
High Current is a common report coupled with bad diodes. The KPA100 uses the forward power sensed by the diodes to set the output power to match what you have requested with the POWER knob. No feedback means the rig drives the finals to full output, often looking into a high SWR since the diodes are also necessary for the tuner to work. Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- ok the relay that switches the high power was clicking because the fuse in the rig runner was bad replaced that stopped clicking think problem in kat 100 Left k2 hooked during storm now acts funny. Have the k2 with amp and tuner in ec2. Tuner tunes but leds on kat100 don’t light up. Also shows hi curr on screen. KAT100 shows error code E243. When kpa100 switched something starts clicking one of the relays not sure which one yet. kat2 tuner shows no errors just when kat100 hooked up. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
