John, that's more evidence that it's the forward and reverse power detection diodes in the KPA100 that failed since when you remove it the power detection function is handled by a separate diode detector in the base K2. The base K2 doesn't have a full forward/reverse power detection circuit to calculate SWR. It uses a simpler diode detector to only measure the output power at the antenna connector and reports the power assuming a 50 ohm non-reactive load. The detector output tells the K2 when it is producing the power requested by the POWER control.
