I think we're barking up the wrong tree. The real travesty of WWV's signal is, and has been for a long while, the *voice* announcements of solar conditions, weather conditions, and navigation. Have you noticed? It sounds like they use a 100-year-old microphone that has been left out in the rain for several decades, used as a chew toy by several dogs, and that served as a hammer to build several houses.
