Which is exactly why one should always use a pre-determined common frame of reference. In the fire service, it wasn't left flank of the fire, it was the [N/S/W/E] flank.
On radios, it should start with something akin to "With the front panel towards you". Most of the time Elecraft has already taken care of this.
