Most people when operating portable use a small external 7-10ah battery to power everything the 9v makes little difference and IMHO not needed. Here I have a KX3/Griffin iMike/iPad + 10ah battery = quite a few hours of operation even at 10w with logging/spotting program/Panadapter almost like being at home.
