Good luck to the expedition and those that chase after it.

Personally, I never seem to do well in pileups. Maybe lack of erp on my part (on 23cm I do better, but I have more erp on that band) or a dislike of the sort of behaviour that seems to grip some people when a really rare DX country comes up on a band makes me want to just go somewhere else and do something different?

On 6M I used to notice that, when there was a rare DX station on, you could work other stations that would be covered in a pile up normally because everyone was after the super DX station.

So, I'll be pleased to try to hoover up a few lesser DX stations whilst everyone scrambles for Wake Atoll. The fact that, even after being licenced since 1982, I've barely made DXCC worked, let alone confirmed, will tell you that I'm not in any sense of the word a "DXer". ;-)

To missquote a well known saying, for me, DX isn't quite.

Subject: [Elecraft] Fwd: K9W Wake Atoll DXpedition Has Been Approved - Hope To Be QRV This Weekend

The K9W Wake Island Dxpedition is back on track and should be on the air this weekend (Nov 3) if all goes to schedule.
(See announcement below and http://wake2013.org/index.html )

They are running K3s and KPA500's, so they should both sound great and have sensitive ears!
