I just use a cheap netbook made by ASUS. Works well, sips battery, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg if I drop it and it breaks.
Make sure you buy a decent USB soundcard like the Griffin iMic for the best results. Built in sound cards work, but a lot of times they lead to more problems then they are worth.
