Use the coax, it is a faraday shield (ground only at one end).
Yes, even with coax, it should not be left plugged in - especially with the KPA100 installed. The other transmit circuits may pick up BFO harmonics from the wire and you can transmit spurs. It is not so much of a problem with the K2/10, but with the KPA100, remove it.
