I consider this group to be a great collection of well-seasoned hams (smoked
hams?). I assume that a lot of us are Elmers. Elecraft equipment is the right
choice for most of us, but I appreciate the comments on other gear, so that I’m
ready to give a new ham a solid list of choices.

In backpacking, we say “hike your own hike”. Take the advice from your
Elmer(s), but you are the one turning the knobs. Or touching the screen.
