Hl Joe, I also have a KPA500. It also had the Buzz and noise. I sent it in to Elecraft for a different reason, and they found a Bad "Z-Bracket" and replaced it. Now is the KPA500 is silent except for the loud fan. Mine was factory built, so I don't know what this bracket is, but think you should take a look at it.
