Ron - Yes, the work is equal to adding the upgrades themselves but you end up with a rig that can have the options removed and replaced with the UNPCBs (for testing, selling) with no further re-rework. It also gives you a chance to do all the rework at one time while you have everything set up.
Ken - Yes, I found it confusing too but that's because it's confusing! There are 2 things at work. First you need the parts to populate the K2 and prepare it for the option. Then you need the UNPCBs which plug in just like each option to complete the circuit, etc. It seems the only way to really understand it is to go through it and learn each step. I'm seeing that what I paid for was not the parts, but the engineering thought / development that went in to developing the rework eliminator / UNPCBs and the extensive documentation that goes along with it (which is great btw). - Keith KD1E - -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ron D'Eau Claire Sent: Tuesday, March 21, 2006 4:14 PM To: 'Ken Alexander'; elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: RE: [Elecraft] K2 S/N #5396 up and running employing theReworkEliminator & UNPCBs Ken, VE3HLS wrote: Although, looking at their website I couldn't tell the difference between an UNPCB and a Rework Eliminator. The whole thing left me confused...I'm sure it's mostly just me, but it's going to take some more head scratching before I can determine what I need. --------------------------------------- I can understand the idea of the gadgets for someone building a new K2 who absolutely does not want to touch any of the finished boards to remove a jumper or capacitor as needed to add other modules, but it looks like the amount of work to re-equip a finished K2 is comparable with adding the modules themselves!
