Don, thanks so much for your swift reply and great suggestion. 
I re-seated the grey control cable and snugged it up and the amp is working 
fine now!
Problem solved! (Cockpit error)

supply is seated properly and the jackscrews tightened.  The fact that 
the KPA1500 power switch does nothing is an indicator that the cable may
