Note that the Japanese manufacturers sell many radios with different feature sets at different price points. If you decide you need a feature that's not in your radio, you usually have to buy a new one. Elecraft, for 20+ years, has sold only a few radios, each with a variety of optional features. The K3, KX3, K2, KX2, and, soon, the K4, can each be configured with options that multiply the product lines to meet varying needs. It's a major difference in corporate philosophy.
