When you press XMIT it doesn't switch to CW. It switches to transmit. It is
the same as pushing a PTT line.

If you press and hold XMIT, you go in to TUNE, which will transmit a
carrier based upon what you have set for TUNE PWR. If that is set to NOR
then your power out is set to whatever the power knob setting is. If TUNE
PWR is set to 8 watts, then you will have 8 watts in tune mode.
