I've had the same effect by setting the K3's Alarm to ON then turning off the p/s. When the p/s is turned on again (and maybe the K3 Power button pressed; I forget the exact sequence now) the LCD backlight comes on. So, you might want to check the Alarm setting.

This doesn't happen with the other K3 using the same cable.  All is normal.

Looking in the archives I saw something about a D10 removal, but couldn't find the specific info as to where it is and what the access is.  It was described as an early mod, but this K3 is a later version #6695.  Any specific ideas where the problem is and how to fix it?
