Greetings,

I've been a K3S (s/n 10305) owner for a good while, and been VERY happy with it.

I've finally encountered my first problem, involving the contrast of the display.

I've reached a point where Menu items LCD ADJ is at 100, and LCD BRT is at 2 in order to be able to show sufficient contrast to comfortably read the display. Dialing LCD ADJ to 50 results in a pretty much blank display, which was not the case when the rig was new. The rig NEVER gets any direct sunlight on its face. There is some VERY subdued ambient daylight in the shack, but nothing that should deteriorate a light-sensitive surface.

My habit in station layout is to put the rig to my left, which still allows readability, but if I am dead-center as I view the display, everything is almost invisible at the 100/2 combination. Looking down from above and from the left also gives better contrast, but something seems to be drifting out of spec., and I'm not sure if others have also had this problem already.

I've tried searching through my archive of the reflector, but haven't seen any reference to this problem yet. My general habit originally with long-term use of the rig was to keep it on continuously, until this problem showed up. So now I power off when I'm not using the rig. I'm hoping it's just something adjustable that has drifted, and needs a tweak.

I'm handy with a multimeter, if an expert has suggestions of things to try checking voltage and resistance-wise.

Let the comments begin...
