With respect to the user interface, very little difference. The K3S added a USB port that simplified cabling for computer interface, integrated a second preamp for the higher bands that was an accessory for the K3. Other differences were improvements in some of the circuitry that improved receiver performance in weak signal and crowded band conditions (a new motherboard and new synth boards).
