Ha, ha!! A spring-loaded solder sucker works especially well that way too. I do that whenever I can: heat the pad on the component side and put the sucker on the pad on the opposite side.
One crafty fellow, perhaps it was Don, W3FPR, mentioned cutting a notch in the tip of his spring-loaded sucker so he could put it OVER the iron and make a decent seal to the pad working from the same side of the board. That sounded like a FB idea too. Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- I have found that my awful old rubber bulb desoldering tool is in fact somewhat useful. The trick is to heat a pin on one side of the board and use the tool on the other side. I realize it may not work very well on ICs, but I managed to free a toroidal transformer by this method. I'm not saying that the rubber bulb is the best thing since sliced bread, but it isn't useless, either. -- David Dawson The trouble with this country is that there are too many politicians who believe, with a conviction based on experience, that you can fool all of the people all of the time. -- Franklin Adams _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
