Bernie,

I would suggest that you go with Spectrogram now - for all the filters.  It
is harder to explain than to do it.  See the information at my website
http://w3fpr.qrpradio.com - the CAL FIL info is inside part 3 of the article
on K2 dial calibration.

The noise generator will not provide more accuracy than noise from a 'dead
band'.  In these days of low sunspot activity, you should easily find a band
that is a bit noisy and contains no discrete signals.  Yes, the NGEN is
convenient, but it should not be any stopping block for you to get your K2
filters aligned - even the internal receiver noise (turn the preamp on) will
give you an adequate amplitude of the receiver passband to align the
filters.

You really should align the filters before attempting any qualitative
evaluations of the received signal quality - the filter alignment is
critical to what you hear.
