Well, Ohio *is* the 'Buckeye State' - when I grew up in Ohio, they were called buckeye trees by everyone, it was only later that I learned they were also horse chestnut trees.

I'm originally from upstate NY, where horse chestnut trees seemed to be everywhere you looked. I think we had four or five of them just on our one-block-long street. Collecting huge bags of horse chestnuts was an autumn ritual.
