Seriously, the KUSB would seem to be the safe option, though I note that has the same chipset as the one I had problems communicating with my K2 with under Linux, and even Elecraft advises that you update to the latest drivers. I got mine cheap on eBay. I think the main reason for not including USB in a radio is that Elecraft would then have to write drivers for every OS anyone would want to use. By keeping the USB interface separate and making RS-232 the standard, they avoid that responsibility. Also, some people still use DOS logging software that doesn't support USB. A better choice than USB would be ethernet, but the hardware needed to support that in the K3 would probably add more to the cost of the K3 and be more RF noisy. ----- Julian, G4ILO K3 s/n: 222 K2 s/n: 392 G4ILO's Shack: www.g4ilo.com Zerobeat Ham Forums: www.zerobeat.net/smf -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Serial-to-USB-adapters-tp14982525p14982836.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
