I agree with your calculation if you use the same battery chemistry. 
I you compare a lead acid battery with a Nicad or NiMh battery it is probably 
a different thing. You should never deep discharge a lead acid battery. They 
don't live very long if you do it. On the other side NiCad should not be 
charged if they are not discharged. (memory effect)
So the real-live capacity of a battery is not written on the label in my 
experience - it depends on many factors like current draw, temperature, 
battery chemistry, quality of the build ....
