You should receive an email acknowledging your order. (At least I received one for my order.)
The status page you have heard of is probably the now famous (or infamous?) shipping status page: <http://www.elecraft.com/elecraft_shipping_status.htm> It will give you an idea how many months you have to wait to get your own K3. You will quickly see that it says, "New K3 orders are now targeted for May delivery". Keep in mind that that is just an estimate. While the Elecraft guys are great at designing radios, and great at customer support, they have had some problems recently with forecasting the future. You can get an idea about some the problems by noting the comment on the KFL3B-FM filter, and Wayne's note on the delay of the KRX3.
