All Heil ProSets are indeed NOT the same! The one specific to Elecraft used
(not sure if it is still being marketed or is still otherwise available -
don't see it listed on the Elecraft site or on the Heil site) an "electret"
element and mine is actually labeled on the side with "IC" indicating that
it was actually for ICOM. The "dongle" provides the proper pinout for use
on either my K2 (wired straight across - as for Kenwood) or my K3. As
usual, YMMV Don N4HH

I'm not sure that all Heil ProSets are the same here.

I know that the Proset K2 sold by Elecraft requires bias.

However I wouldn't think other Heil Prosets that use the HC-4 and HC-5
element would require bias.

The Elecraft Heil ProSet requires that "Bias" be turned on. For use on the
front panel, your mic setting should read "FP.L bIAS" - use the "REV" (has
the red number 2 under it" to turn bias on. 73 -- Don N4HH K3 #83

Great radio, just one minor problem, no SSB, no VOX response to yelling..
When
first I tried it very briefly (ages ago) it definitely worked. Since then I
have only used CW ....
So what could have gone wrong ??? I have always used the Elecraft Heil Pro

Set and the phones work just fine. The mike is plugged into the adapter that

came with the Pro Set. The latest software says the mike is still set to
f.Pl, not to r.Pl.
I can play with the gain, the compression etc but nothing happens when I
yell.
Antivox is set at 0; VOX gain makes no difference. Other settings seem
perfectly OK and nothing changes if I play with them.
So what have I done wrong ...... there must be something I missed.
Oh well, there is always my Omni-V .....that has its own mike.
