In your case that is of course very good, you probably have
better IMD then at 1000W level. But then we have all the others.
A fact is that far more then 50% of all SSB signals heard on
the ham bands do have poor IMD. It did not use to be like
this 25 years ago. Why is it like this? Manufactures play
a majore role in this. Like Elecraft K3 forexample, this is
a radio that will get considerably poorer IMD vise operated
at maximum SSB PEP power. Joe Ham does not understand this
and he will operate the box at maximum PEP power.
Oh well I better go and celebrate Christmas but I´m recovering
from a bad pneumonia and feel quite lousy.

Never had a problem. I was concerned as well, but informal tests showed no problems. I haven't had a chance to use a spectrum analyzer on it yet. I run it at the legal limit (750 watts), anyway ;-)

Checking product information I can see it is advertised as a 1000W PEP
amplifier. What happens with IMD at over 1300W?

Eric,

The thing that makes the KPA-1500 most attractive from my perspective, and surely others, is it's supposed SO2R ability. What other amps on the market offer similar capability other than the SPE Expert 1K-FA (which is only 1kW)? A KPA-1500 is domestic, so eliminates the extra steps involved in importing, et.al. compared to an SPE.

You don't have to worry about import and support on the SPE Expert, it is taken care of by Bill at B&B Tech http://www.spe-na.com/

Bill offers excellent support, so I wouldn't think twice. Note also that I get significantly more than 1KW out on mine, even more than 1300 watts.
