In my uninformed opinion, I believe it could be easily accomplished. Conceptually it could be the current KAT3 board with only part of the components mounted, and firmware that is the same as the KAT3 except that the 'bypass' function would be permanently set on.

Implementation and integration into the current K3 firmware and menu structure is quite another matter.

I AGREE WITH THIS 100%.
Of course, it will probably be ~$99, still rather pricey, but much
better than buying a KAT3...and I would not mind being "wrong" on the
price (in the right direction).
