Wow! Thanks for the detailed comments on the K3 assembly, Gary. That's exactly why I closely monitor the reflector.
You asked, " It's not entirely clear what the display light blocker strips are meant to achieve, hence exactly where they should be fitted - should they stick to the main board, the edge of the display panel, or the strip of flexy foil sticking out of the LCD panel?" That step of the assembly procedure says it all: "The blockers should be nearly flush with the front edge of the LCD to block the excess light that leaks out of each end of the display." It's no more complicated than that. Early testing of the K3 showed that enough light leaked out of the ends of the display that you could see it around the edge of the buttons nearest the display, especially in dim room light. Wayne added the "blockers" to stop that small amount of light leakage. 73, Ron AC7AC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
