I have one of the GlenTek RTE Ethernet to Serial (RS-232) boards discussed on
this thread. I ordered it on eBay and it does in fact come from the
manufacturer GlenTek.

I have had several email exchanges with Fred Glenn and he always responds very
quickly, ala Elecraft.

I have mine working on my local intranet. In other words, I can take my laptop
into the living room and control my K3 from there. My purpose in buying it
though is to be able to control my K3 from my Arizona ham shack from my office
in California where I spend most weeks.

One thing the GlenTek RTE has that the other B-B device doesn't is a three
minute timer which covers the FCC regulation that remote operated radios MUST
have. It is just like a time out timer on a repeater, e.g. if the transmitter
stays keyed for 3 minutes, it shuts it down. There are also four other
bistable ports that can be used to control other functions in the shack. You
also have a separate on-off control for you transceiver, which works easily
with the ACC port on the K3.

As for CW, I already had a WinKeyer USB and noticed on K1EL.com that he had
available remote operating software. I purchased a second WinKeyer and can now
send latent-free CW from my second keyer which is linked through my home
network. In other words I can send CW from my laptop in the living room.

Audio link is Skype. I have two accounts, one on each computer. I call the
one from the other and it auto-answers. My SignaLink USB sound card processes
the audio and I can hear it on my laptop.

I haven't tried PSK-31 yet because I need to reverse the audio on the remote
computer to get DM780 to decode it. I'm still scratching my head on that one.

I am not a computer network guy, and getting the remote to work outside my own
LAN is what I am working on now. This is impeded somewhat by my lack of access
to a different LAN. Unfortunately, my neighbor who has a wireless LAN I can
see, cannot remember the password which would allow me access; she's 75 and
really doesn't have a clue.

If you have questions, I would suggest you contact Fred at
supp...@glentekcorp.com He has been very helpful to me thus far.
