I live in a VHF desert and can usually hear nothing at all but when a contest is on and the portables take to the Dumfries and Galloway hills which are line of sight across the water their signals are MASSIVE. The only time I have ever seen the K3 S-meter reading "end-stop" is on 2m. I can work these guys using 2.5W to rubber duck on an FT-817 standing on the shack desk. So I think IP3 is very important on VHF. ----- Julian, G4ILO.
