Dan,

Yes, the 2N2222A transistors are for Q11 and Q13.  Many times a PA 
transistor failure will take out those as well.
Yes, the 1/2 watt resistor is for R50.  If you have an old K2 with the 
1/4 watt R50, replace it with the 1/2 watt.
Only the rear (heatsink) half of the bottom cover needs to be on for the 
test.  Do NOT transmit with no heat sink on the PA transistors - that is 
a sure way to send them to their early demise.
Try it first at 2 watts - if all is OK, then try 5 watts, and finally 
try 10 watts.  You can also try maximum power if you want - keep the 
transmit (TUNE) times short for the 10 watt and max power tests.
