This issue has been debated many times on the reflector and both parties have their points. In my opinion, the K3 has it right BUT I need the sidetone level to be available at all times during cw operation without push/hold/tone. The steady tone thing drives me crazy if I'm in a QSO and need to change level. The pitch adjustment with it's steady tone also bugs me but I've gotten used to this. Now I'm permanetly crazy!
