This could very easily be a nice K3 Utility feature. Actually, a good model for this feature is found in MS Visual Studio 2010 (and, earlier versions). This allows the setup of the Visual Studio software to be saved in a file so that it can be restored at a later time or even shared with others. Aspects of how this might work on the K3 can almost use the Visual Studio feature as a design pattern -- I am sure that the author of the K3 Utility (on Windows) uses Visual Studio.
But, one of the nifty features of this settings save and restore thing is that you can limit the scope of the save and restore to a subset of all of the settings. Via a selection process that is part of the save or restore, you can select various options or subsets of options to be affected. Thus, you don't run into the hassle of overwriting some other setting that you want to keep when you reclaim some other alternative setting. I can see it now -- this Elecraft forum will become a great trading ground for "settings" files.
