Chris, perhaps you're aware that I've been away from the list for most of the time.

As for May's Criterion, it sounds singularly unimportant, since it's about a 2-candidate election.

Are you really afraid that if we use CR, and there are 2 candidates, the sincere voters will be taken advantage of because they choose to vote sincerely and to thereby give up strategic power?

Because, with 2 candidates, anyone preferring A to B will give maximum points to A and minimum points to B, unless s/he prefers to vote sincerely and thereby have less (or no) effect on the outcome. For instance, as I said earlier, if the 2 candidates were Kerry & Bush, and the method were Approval, I wouldn't vote for either. I'd turn in a blank ballot, or not show up, whichever would be better coiunted. If the method were CR, I'd give minimum points to Kerry & Bush. If the method were Condorcet, I wouldn't rank either, which means that I'd turn in a blank ballot, or not show up for vote.

Yes, then I wouldn't affect the outcome, but I prefer honesty to affecting the outcome of an election between those 2 candidates.
