Dear Estevao,

Thanks for confirming that you also see that the antenna error is detected in version 9.05 of Electric, but not in 9.06. As I mentioned previously, this seems to be because "ret = ERCANTPATHGATE;" on line 596 is not returned in the followNode function (line 462) such that the "if (found == ERCANTPATHGATE)" block of code (starting at line 336) is not executed in com.sun.electric.tool.erc.ERCAntenna.java of Electric version 9.06 [ https://java.net/projects/electric/sources/svn/content/trunk/electric/electric-java/com/sun/electric/tool/erc/ERCAntenna.java?rev=15813 ].

I believe it is determining the perimeter-area as follows:

1. Select net@8
2. Click Edit -> Properties -> Object Properties...
3. perimeter_net@8 = 2*width + 2*length = 2*4 + 2*1502 = 3012

4. Select net@5
5. Click Edit -> Properties -> Object Properties...
7. perimeter_net@5 = 2*width + 2*length = 2*4 + 2*10 = 28

8. Click File -> Preferences..., then select Categories -> Display -> 3D
9. Select Metal-1: thickness = 2.65

10. perimeter-area-metal1 = (perimeter_net@8 + perimeter_net@5)*thickness = (3012 + 28)*2.65 = 8056

Kind Regards,

Gavin

Hello Gavin, thank you for the help.

In fact, the Antenna Error in the library you sent is detected only by version 9.05, not by version 9.06.

Another doubt: the error message says that perimeter-area is 8056. What means this parameter "perimeter-area"? I noted that it is different from the area, since the area of Metal1 is about 6008 (1502 * 4).

Estevao

    Hi everyone:

I've tried to force an antenna error in my designs, just to verify
if this checking is working well in Electric. I'm using the MOCMOS
technology, with 3 layers of metal.

I've making cells with intentionally long layers of poly1 or
metal1, connected only to the gates of small MOSFETs. Curiously,
when running the Antenna rule check, the software never points any
    antenna rule violation.

Can anyone explain what I should do to perform this test
(preferably to find the errors)? Can anyone send me a cell with an
    antenna rule violation example?

    Thank you.

    Estevao
