I'm very happy to hear this, Compiz is old and most of its code are cool things to show how cool can the GNU/Linux desktop (e.g., desktop 3D cubes, fire animation on drop down menus, etc.) - which, in my opinion is useless -.
It is time to start making beautiful yet useful WM; Gala and Mutter are excellent exemples.
