So I'm back to beating it around again. Finally got the IVTV branch to somewhat behave. So here's the scoop. Gathered there's a bit of turmoil in the whole licensing thing, and personally, I guess I don't care. I'm after quality code, one way or another. Genkernel (Gentoo) is fine and easy, but I'm not afraid of spinning my own kernel with patches and/or additional mods.
(soapbox put away) OK, so the branch from v4l-dvb-kernel/experimental compiles and almost runs fine on my epia 1Ghz board (other than some strange *horizontal* blur lines???) but the goal is to put this on my server with my PVR-500 card. I have made some progress as the branch from "makomk" that was supposably a snapshot of the kernel branch compiles fine and the PVR-500 card works with the embedded ivtv. Now, the EM2880 driver craps out, but no kernel panic, just doesn't work. So..... how do I graft these together? Markus, are you using an older version of IVTV, or do you hack the tuner module (the module that seems to crap out). What/how can I capture something useful for you? HW: AMD64 3000 (2GHz) Older PCChips board pair of 300GB SATA in RAID 0/1 1.25GB ram Hauppauge PVR-500 Hauppauge HVR-950 Mythtv Makomk snapshot gives working PVR-500 with 2.6.22 and craps out with em2880 module v4l-dvb-experimental has kernel oops? (sort of goes on, but locks up later in boot) with what appears the tuner module HW2: Epia M 1GHz 60G 2.5" drive Hauppauge HVR-950 mythtv V4l-dvb-experimental works fine (no crapping out), except for horizontal blur lines (kind of like looking through old slat glass windows) on motion. Looking for directions.... :) Sean _______________________________________________ Em28xx mailing list [email protected] http://mcentral.de/mailman/listinfo/em28xx
