This is indeed a subtle problem. I am having a hard time thinking of an Org way of doing this without special markup. It would have to be auto-generated in someway. So I have a somewhat non-technical suggestion. How about you give the LaTeX macros you use human readable aliases. The editors then might find it easier to edit LaTeX source directly.
