If it's any consolation, I found the same problem when I was writing what
became `rcp-handle-expand-many-files.' Initially, I tried to advise
`PC-expand-many-files,' but the return value was always nil. I thought I was
doing something wrong, but, in retrospect, I was experiencing the same
problem that you are with `rcp-vc-do-command.' The solution is simple though.
I suggest you forget advice and use something like `rcp-setup-complete.'
