tramp, telnet & ntemacs

I'm attempting to use tramp in ntemacs (on a W2000 box if that 
matters), but I'm having trouble with the telnet methods because of 
an onerous ^M at the end of the lines.

So, what to do?  I've got "(add-hook 'comint-output-filter-functions
'comint-strip-ctrl-m)", but that doesn't seem to help matters here.
