This might be teetering a little too close on the edge of magic for
some people, and it might certainly be a little too 'deep' for 1.0.
But considering...

* You have a folder.
* You have a list of messages in that folder to the same "non-you" recipient.
* You have a filter/rule to direct incoming messages there.

...Letters could then ask you whether this folder is a discussion
list. (It might not be; it might be automatic reports from some
system.)

Discussion list folders could bring a number of features.

* A "new message" button for posting directly to the list, รก la forums.
* Stack Overflow-style "search for similar things as you write" when
you write your response. Your response is compared, using latent
semantic mapping or some other smart matching (uncommon words), to
either unread or all messages in the same discussion list.

Those two examples are on each end of the complexity scale; what they
have in common is that they're both "wouldn't it be cool if" features
that would genuinely save varying amounts of time on lists.

If nothing else, something like it would be useful to keep in mind
when the plugin architecture is specced out. This is the kind of
insane things that people, by which I mean me, would want to do -- how
would you build it so that it's possible?
