Yup, but I don't think that's the point.

I've got a notebook, but I think I'll use just the widescreen view (wireframe 
W, page 2) and probably a 1col layout (wireframe W, page 5).

I think it's just a matter of habits.

I don't think that the issue here is the installed user base: we could develop 
a way to have a 3col layout useful on 13", or a 2col layout. It's just a matter 
of choices from my point of view.

To bring on the discussion we shouldn't think about "widecreen means wide, so 
it's 1280px, so on 13" is small" but "how do you use a mail client?".

Because the first ones are assumptions based on your current idea of a 
"widescreen view" while the second one could help everybody to think a better 
solution... whatever it will be. :)
