People that care so much about using the application to accomplish its primary task to the extent that they are interested in adjusting it to its maximum potential. For an email client, that could mean both "people who get a lot of mail" and "people who would like their application to deal with mail better". There are certainly people who get enormous amounts of mail who don't actually care that much about reading or organizing it.
