For what it's worth, IMAP is perfectly gmail-friendly, you just need to activate the option in your Gmail prefs.
Actually you have that backwards, GMail claims to be IMAP friendly but isn't really. GMail's IMAP implementation is limited and problematic for many IMAP clients. They seem to be improving it but it's still a ways off from a good version. This is actually a problem with all IMAP servers to a varying degree, but GMail's tends to be the weakest. Personally I would prefer Letters to support a robust set of IMAP capabilities, not just GMail's. I use the Cyrus IMAP server and would love a new client that works well with it. Unfortunately this probably means more work for the protocol implementors, but I think an e-mail client written specifically to GMail's implementation will be a weaker client. _______________________________________________ [email protected] mailing list List help: http://lists.ranchero.com/listinfo.cgi/email-init-ranchero.com
