I'm using a specialized email app named Mail Siphon (shareware) that allows me to see the subject line and "originator" information on email on the smtp server, and delete those I don't want downloaded. (Once you pay the shareware fee it also allows you to send a bogus "Bounce" message in response to an item before you delete it.) You can then download the remaining items with Mail Siphon, or quit it and use the email app of your choice... -- Selah!
