Yep, I have the same problem, which prompted me to join this list and start the "Why Emailer" thread. AT&T has been terrible in my experience at explaining technical issues and changes to its customers. They have changed something... I used to look at my Logs, but now I just let the errors accumulate, and I check my Out and Sent folders to verify things are getting sent.
In my case, I have several accounts, and several domains. My master account, [EMAIL PROTECTED], has no problems, naturally. Another account looks like: account - [EMAIL PROTECTED] smtp - mail.thedomain.com That one works. But another account only works like this: account - [EMAIL PROTECTED] ... and if I do this: smtp - mail.theotherone.com I get a user/password mismatch. So I do this: smtp - mail.attbi.com ... and I can send mail, but I get the network stream error every time. It's annoying, but I think it's harmless, it's just somehow not able to negotiate the sign-off with the mail server.
