This could be a cumulative problem with Emailer. Emailer drops the
network connection when it is done sending, and it does it slightly
prematurly. If AT&T is now dropping their end prematurly as well, it
could be confusing Emailer. Emailer may have been written expecting that
it would always be the one to disconnect first, and now if the server is
beating it to the punch, Emailer may be reporting an error.

If in fact the email is successfully being sent, I wouldn't worry about
it.

If you are technical minded, you can always have a look at the mail
trasaction and see if everything is being completed properly (after
sending email, the email client should issue a QUIT command, and then the
server should reply with a 221 OK command (it will be a 221 followed by
comment the server wants), then the server should drop its connection,
and the email client follows suit).

You should see that sequence of events if you watch the email being sent
when running a stream watcher like Interarchy or OT Session Watcher (I
simply MUST find one for OS X).
