Hi Ellen, I receive and send email with my AOL account, but don't have AOL installed as I no longer use it as my ISP on my Mac G4 dual processor with the internal modem which came with it. I have no idea if your new iMac has the same internal modem. But here is what I can offer...
I don't know if this will help you or not, but I have selected "Apple Express Modem" in the modem selection section for the AOL account information screen in the CE Easy Set-up and use one of AOL's dial-up numbers. The other option I select in that screen is "AOLnet". I do periodically have to go to an older Mac on which I still have AOL software installed to check for local numbers in case they change. Chris was mentioning installing additional modems in CE software, but I don't remember doing this (it was 1.5 years ago when I set up this Mac). The Apple Express Modem is the second one listed in my CE modem list. I remember deleting modems from the AOL software on my old Mac in order to free up space, but I just left them all on when installing eMailer on my G4. I just now found where the modems are listed in my CE folder/CE Files/AOL Folder. If you don't have the Apple Express file and think it might work for you, I would be happy to send it to you. I just upgraded to system 9.2.2 yesterday in preparation for installing OS X Jaguar. (I am about to do this today with great fear and trepidation.) Emailer automatically collected fine this morning with the dial-up process to one of AOL's numbers. Soon I will see what happens after installng System 10. I guess from what people are saying, I will use system 9.2.2 to collect email from AOL. Susan Grose, Overland Park, Kansas P.S. I hope you will let us "AOLers" know what ends up working for you. I hope installing System X does not mess any already working processes too much. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
