Does POPMonitor download the entire message or just the start of a 
message?

Its possible you have a bad message in there and the server is getting 
stuck trying to send the entire message.

Try another email client, or some other program that will download the 
full message. Or use POPMonitor (or MailSiphon, or whatever tool you 
like) to delete the first message and see if the problem goes away.
