I love my ISP. I was one of their first customers in 1995 when there were just two guys and a single server in a large cupboard above a hairdresser's shop. Nowadays they own a whole suite of offices on our nearby university campus and hundreds of server racks in an airconditioned room. But they specialize in big business accounts so a "Mom & Pop" account like mine is rare. I get personal service and they always pick up the phone within 3 rings. Yesterday I noticed that [EMAIL PROTECTED] was reporting an error so I phoned the technical department to find out why. "Good morning, Internet Central, tech support." "Hi, Martin here. Who's that?" "Hi, Martin, it's Leigh." "What's happened to my email server at satcure.net?" "Oh, sorry about that. I didn't think you'd be working this early (10am). I've just taken the server off-line for two minutes while I added more memory. It's rebooted now so try again. It should be fine. Sorry." This is a company that handles seriously large company accounts but I still get personal service for around $55 a month. That might seem expensive for a basic ADSL account with 100Mb web space and an email server but it's a business account and everything costs double in the UK. I think I get good value. I certainly never get "fobbed off". In fact they used to call ME for help when they had a Mac user with a problem!
